INSULIN PEN

Illustration of pink insulin pen with needle exposed, ready to administer 1 unit of insulin.

The insulin pen looks very much like the sort of pen you would write with in school, only this pen has many great powers. To administer insulin really fast, an insulin pen will be used to bring the levels of a Type 1 Diabetic down if they are in a hyperglycaemia, or if they are about to eat food containing carbohydrates. It functions just the same as an insulin pump, only this is not adhered to your skin.

Most diabetics will begin administering insulin using a pen before being introduced to the insulin pump system, just like Dybo Boy!
